Well I don't consider myself much, since I am self-taught in what I do. I basically train with a Bo, a couple of Escrima Sticks, and a Rapier. My best weapon is the Bo, it's aluminum and 5' (and it's blue, hehe). The Escrima Sticks are wood and about 3' long, but I usually only use one and practice getting fast with it. I'm not as good with the Rapier, but I can spin around with it and perform a couple of tricks that look impressive (so says people I know) and have taken a while to learn them. When I first started training with the Bo I felt tension when spinning it above my head and also performing some other specific spins, and I wanted to get rid of that. I started meditation and using any means to better the focus. I've even used video games while I'm thinking to help reduce nervousness, and it has worked well as far as I feel. But again I am self-taught, so I only know what I've been doing. After training and meditating some more I'm going to try and find a school(s) to get instructed and become better. One thing that is certain: if faced with a problem I think I can deal with it for the most part. If by chance someone in the street decides to fire a gun at me I will probably hide behind something and find a way for him to get closer to me, or myself to get closer to him. Once I can do that, I can use my Bo's long reach to strike the gun out of the person's hand, or use my Rapier to knock it out with a swift stroke. It's legal to carry these things where I live. I have been questioned by police at occasions, but after explaining my motives and reasons they understood. When I go out I usually take the Bo with me and leave the Rapier in the car (with the doors locked of course). I hide it so people can't see it and break the windows. The best part is that the meditation provides a base for your actions and reactions. It's more important than training with physical weapon. I find vocabulary to be second best, especially in conjunction with the mind. I'm going to start searching for a school or two, one for the Bo and one for the Rapier. Of course if I can find one that deals with both I'd be even happier, but it's hard finding places like that around where I live, so for the most part I'm by myself. I've been doing stretching and such as well. Even though I've been doing this for years I'm sure the schools have much more to teach that I don't know, so I'll definitely be looking into at least one of those.
