There's a certain amount of stress put on your legs in thaiboxing that you eventually adapt to, but I don't know if this is a good idea for a person with bad or previously injured knees.

If you're determined to do it, you might want to get yourself in shape a month before you start and see how your legs hold out. Stretch regularly, work with a jump rope, start running and do calisthenics (push ups, chinups) or swimming (easy on your joints and great for resistance)

If you want to get close to the same conditioning without the leg stress, hire a boxing trainer. Boxing will also give you decent fighting skills and put you in great shape.

Good Luck!!
