San Shou fighters are good at throws and takedowns but I haven't seen Cung Le do a fight yet with kneed allowed.
Actually, I just saw a K-1 event on ESPN2 that Cung Le fought in under San Shou rules. The announcers explicitly said kneeing was allowed but Cung Le (or his opponent for that matter) didn't do much of it. His entire fight consisted of mostly takedowns (got him some easy points cuz the other guy, Petit, seem to fall for them every time) and scattered punches/kicks. He was impressive nonetheless. Don't know how he'd fair against a seasoned mixed martial artist. Seems like a good deal of his takedowns could be neutralized by a good sprawler (like Chuck Liddell). However, this is always easier said than done in the ring.
