Boxers are taught to put the weight on the front foot or at least to step forward into a jab. Its a jab though, not all your weight. Jabs are meant to set up for something else. You step forward with your front foot with weight on it and that leaves you being able to jab and then get out using that front foot sort of as a spring. If it leads to more you push off your rear as you bring it around. I dunno if I'm explaining this correctly but it's the way boxers are taught....
