If you want some respect, stop engaging in flame-wars with people. If people see you tossing insults and cut-downs back and forth, they will not want to converse with you at all, even if you have good things to contribute to the forum.
Also, please understand that in America, Dutch people are associated with: the wooden shoes, the dutchboy from advertising, the Pennsylvania Dutch (Amish, Mennonites: a sub-culture in the US who reject modern society and ride horses and don't use electricity).
That's not your fault, that's just the way it is. That's part of why they give you a hard time.
Most Americans are genuinely interested in other cultures and foreign lands, especially a land that has a place like Amsterdam.
To get more respect:
- don't engage in flame-wars
- Start using your real name on the forum.
- or Change your name to "Viking Machine" or something better than "duchman"
- talk more about Gilbert Yvel.
