i think its better to work on 1 muscle group at a time. the idea is to tire that muscle to the point were microtears are created in the muscle, which make it sore the next day. the soreness is what will make ur muscles stronger. in order to do this u need to spend some time on each muscle group. do like a bunch of sets of pushups one after another with only a min or two in between each set. do them slowly in good form until ur muscles cant do anymore. after u do some sets on 1 group, and u feel that muscle group cant do anymore, then move on to the next.
mixing them up is good if u are doing more of a cardio type workout. like if u just finished running, u can do a set of pushups, then a set of abs, and so on. the point is u are keeping ur body in motion and keeping ur heartrate up.
chinups are overhand and work ur back more. pullups are underhand and work ur back and biceps.
