m.artist, i do find myself drawn to the Phillipino arts for weapons usage, its very hard to find a place that does them in the UK (anywhere near the place that i am currently stuck in

having started some serious looking around and enquiring, I think the best and most useful thing to learn to start with will be knife usage and from what i can see Kali is the way to go, god only knows where i can find a Kali school/teacher here but I will do if there is one and i will go for private one on one lessons as I usually do for deadly serious fast track intense learning.
For pure pleasure after learning knives, i will then learn the sword and am inclined towards Japanese styles for this.
Having only learnt firearms myself and never getting round to Sword or Knife arts, I wonder how long it takes to get reasonably effective with a blade?, any idea?, do you think it would be worthwhile going over to the Phillipines for 3 months or so?
