one great way to find out is have someone try those things on you, while you attempt the straight blast. have him come at you ar full speed, and see if it slows, hinders, or even stops him. if it does, then you can expect something similar with somewhat larger people. it if hinders him, you can expect for it to work a lil better on smaller people. try it as he tries to grapple you. if you are successful against him, try it against someone else at full speed, and find out for yourself

Sorry but i am a total newbie to MA ..could someone please explain what is a straight blast or is the name totally self-explantory to the move u are discussing.

It's a fast series of straight punches coming from the inside of the body. usually the elbows are tucked in to make the punches harder to see coming. it's not a punch that is used for power, but is exceptionally fast, and can be used to temporarily "blind" an opponent and leave him open for a stronger or more powerful attack. When Sifu Bruce used it, he would continue it untill the person put their hands up, then come in with a muay thai shin kick to the ribs or kick to the groin to get their hands down, then continue with the straight blast. it's a very "smart" technique
