These are some great suggestions. Making it fun is a great idea (it is not fun if you always loose!). Personally, I started taking self defense in order to learn how to defend myself, and found out how much fun it was afterward. Without trying to scare her, maybe you could tell her that you are concerned for her welfare when you aren't around to play protector. Perhaps you could show her a few key moves that she could use if needed. (Note: If all you can come up with is "go for the groin," you should find a different teacher).
And I'm with Bruce here--How do you get a custom avatar? I am not very computer-literate. I even tried going to the thread where Crazy Joe tried to explain it, and I still can't seem to figure it out. Is it some big secret? I know you have to have X many posts. Help! These avatars we have to choose from are really cheesy.
