I tried to explain did I not...they are completely different and I am stating that as a judoka and a wrestler. If you are looking for SD - wrestling is a sport that has combat application but that is it. Judo is a MA that alot of sport application. So the question of "practical and effective for what?" is legitimate. DO you want to learn becuase you are thinking about HS or college wrestling, MMA or purely for self defense, hey I don't know. Wrestling cannot compare to Judo becuase the goals are different and the techniques have a different emphasis. Which is essentially what I posted before. In a wrestling match pinning only I would take wrestling, in a full judo match I would take judo for the submissions. On the street Judo. Wrestling will only be a vehicle for the ground and pound (which is also not a bad thing)
