I'm actualy thinking of giving up MA because of this, I don't want to end up really hurting someone or not having a social life because I'm a complete Bastard when under the influence of alcohol (and giving up alcohol isn't an option because its too much fun and is something I like to do with friends).

If drinking is more important to you than martial arts you don't have the dedication necessary to succeed at them anyway. If you are so weak willed that you can't restrain yourself from hurting your friends while drunk you don't have the strength of character to succeed in the long run.
