Another thing I noticed about a lot of newer fighters, especially in lighter weight categories is their footwork. I see a lot of fighters with their rear foot perpendicular to their lead foot...almost like a forward leaning backstance. Instead of the traditional running stance where both feet point forwards. I notice that it helps them move circular a little better, but leaves them flat-footed a lot. Shots to the head really seem to take their toll on these guys. What do you think? Should both feet point forwards with feet about 18" apart, or should the rear foot be perpendicular to the lead foot? What are some advantages of your preferred footwork style.
