The next style vs. style matchup was the Ali vs. Inoki match up. Inoki was forbidden to get a clinch or to latch onto Ali's legs (There goes his ability to get Ali to play his game!)
So he threw low drop kicks at Ali's thighs for several rounds, then stayed on his side while trying to scissor Ali. Ali tried to stomp Inoki's butt... then gave Inoki space to get up.....repeat....LOL

Gene was recently awarded his 9th Dan from the Kodokan. May 4th.
What I remember of that Ali fight with the kick boxer is his calf and shin getting hammered for several rounds. I don't think he stood up for a whole minute in any round. On his back like some kinda butt flopping Jiu-jitsu guy  then kicking at Ali's calf every time he came close enough!
