There is a system of kickboxing in Korea known as Kyuk Too Ki. It's very rare in the United States at this time but I've heard that it's catching on in Europe. I've seen clips of the training. It looks almost exactly like standard Muay Thai training but they incorporate all of the kicking techniques of TKD as well as throwing and grappling techniques. I even read somewhere, although I can't remember where, that it is sometimes referred to as Professional Taekwondo.
That aside, I know a lot of people, myself included, who have been able to blend TKD and MT quite effectively. Strictly speaking, both arts use all of the same tools... with the exception of TKD wide array of kicks. The main difference is the training methods.
