That monk could have taken out the TKD guy after he threw those first kicks. He parries the side kick and gets out of the way and he allmost wants to close the gap (you can see his parrying hand wanting to spring into the TKD guy).

In another part of the fight the TKD guy sets up a nice spinning wheel kick and the monk times it to where he could have swept the TKD guys planted leg.

The monk was obviously skilled and very calm, whereas the TKD guy was starting to breath heavier; maybe a sign of chi-breathing and breath control?
