For crying out loud nobody is putting anthing above anything else. However, if you are specifically looking to better yourself as a martial artist, Judo is generally more martially related. In wrestling you are always trying to pin, in Judo at least these are some submissions and striking. However, wrestling has very valid no-gi properties that can be applied not just to MMA but to actual combat. With a little tweeking of classic wrestling technique, the takedowns and contolling positions and general feel for the grappling game can be achieved and use in MMA or on the street.
Sambo combines plenty of other grappling arts allong with the countless traditional wrestling styles of old mother Russia. I like sambo stuff and I sure wsh I could get into it. It involves a lot of leg-lock stuff, and incorperated a whole lot of stuff into its system, when Judo traditionally has X number of throws, X number of grappling techniques, X number of strikes, ect... (not that one is intrinsically bette than the other) |
