This is something I wrote about a year ago, when asked to defend to a friend (non-ma) my "fixation" with training:

It seems sometimes that if you have a warrior mind frame you're made the feel "barbaric" by the undisciplined armchair warriors who will never know the thrill of standing across the mat from an opponent who has every intention of dominating you, of imposing his will over you..

and knowing the inner battle you fight to keep your courage, and your head in the battle...

of the inner security you have, knowing that you have tamed your fear..

and finally the knowing nod you give to your opponent, both of you realizing that you have just been a part of something most men will never experience, and quietly fear.

You have overcome your fears and insecurities.

Every workout is a victory over the McDonalds super-size, home-improvement-watching, no-energy-having, stressed-out undisciplined guy that we all know and have sworn not to become.
Every workout makes me better than I was before it. I know that during the rest of the week, in the boardroom or in front of the client, I won't be intimidated, because I have defeated my inner enemies; fear and insecurity.
