I think in all my Krav Maga training.... I learned... oh what maybe...2 joint locks....
One was the armbar, which I already knew.
One was the Kimura which I already knew.
And those were in the grappling portion... Joint locks? Dont talk about what you dont know about... Krav Maga is about hitting someone repeatedly to subdue them... I've used this example many times before, you get the rear mount you bash their face in the ground to subdue them not RNC them.
With that said, where does this "no contact" in Krav Maga come from, at the place I trained we hit pads every single class, and sparred alot. There were even times when we went outside to fight, or went outside and walked through "an obstacle course", where you deal with wahtever comes at you, sometimes nothing came at you... You never knew.
As for the whole "do this krav maga and you could take out a man this size" thing... well... as a person whos trained Krav Maga, I would say its effective for both men and women... more effective for both men and women (in a Self Defense situation) than almost any unarmed system of self defense, but would I say it gives J-Lo the ability to beat up the guy in that movie.. (I have seen it BTW), hell no.
Would it give her a better shot, hell yes, a better shot than most other things that you can teach women, hell yes, is a krav maga trained woman gonna be able to take on a 6'0 180 pound average man whos seen a few fights and been in a school yard fight or a bar fight or two... maybe.. she'd have the tools... but I'd still pick the man.
I dont know its kinda fucked up for RBSD its good, better than most things I've seen/trained,
