The Marsalis family has produced some amazing musicians! Ellis and Branford are also amazing. When I lived in New Orleans I saw Wynton perform a set of Thelonius Monk and Jelly Roll Morton's stuff, before finishing up with some of his own. I forget whether it's Branford or Ellis but one of them has a track called "Jungle Groove" that uses 3 drummers to make some of the nastiest beats around. Jason Marsalis has been making quite a name for himself as well. One of the amazing things about New Orleans is that a lot of families- like the Marsalis clan- have a strong tradition of studying music. You can still hear the Hot 8 Brass Band play on a regular basis, which Louis Armstrong himself started way back when. Naturally it isn't the orirginal members, but they're all grandschildren, nephews, cousins or some relation to the original members. There are lots of N.O. locals like that.
