Your describing Jik Chung Choi (the straight blast.) Keep in mind, if your opponent knows this technique, then he knows how to create the opening to use this effectively. If he creates the opening, your defense all depends on his energy. You will be forced backward on the defense, so a side step, followed by a groin slap is a possibility. You need to break free of his centerline, and stay on the outside, or attempt to trap him up quickly. The technique is so good, because most untrained or poorly trained fighters will all react the same, and cover their head with their arms, and back up, allowing the opponent to pick and choose his follow up. Everyone reacts differently, and the best way is to wear a helmet, and have your opponent attack with it in a sparring situation, and try different ways to counter, or escape the Jik Chung Choi. Just be careful.
