To me effective street grappling needs to be quicker, and needs to emphisize dominant yet mobile positioning (if your on someones back, his buddies can just kick your face in). Street grappling would have to be agressive and brutal and be mixed with striking/dirty attacks (gouging, groin attacks, ect...). If I were in the street I would be going for a quick/simple throw to a dominant and mobile position to a quick/simple submission.
For instance:
Osoto-gari > Knee on belly > Strait armbar (assuming I was using only grappling in this instance).
Obviously in the street it isn't logical to pull guard or dive for a flying kneebar. |
