In all seriousness, force equals mass x acceleration (ok guys, I know it is more complicated than this, but there you go).
So, the more mass you have, the more potential power you have. Mass from muscle is preferable, because muscle helps move you around, whereas fat doesn't. But mass is mass.
If you look at the old style wrestlers many of them were a little generous around the belly. Now I am not talking about the fake stuff. I mean the real stuff from yesteryear. They had "extra" as it helped cushion them when they were thrown. It will also cushion blows too.
Another factor is knife defence. If you are stabbed with a three inch knife into a belly that had four inches of fat you will bleed - buut you won't die. Even if the knife was longer the fat will still limit the penetration towards your vital organs.
I do not recommend getting fat as an aid to self protection. You are hardly protecting yourself when you increase your chances of getting obesity related diseases! But you can hit harder and take harder hits with fat. Thats a fat fact!
