I did see the practicality in some of the takedowns. Though I did not see them used in a practical way.
The greatest enemy to realistic training is compliancy. However, since we cannot beat each other to death in training, there has always got to be some.
But any training where the "attacker" merely throws one highly telegraphed punch, and then stands still, is detrimental to the training of realistic stuff.
