While this may not sound politically correct, look at the female to male ration in said classes...
Doesn't mean they can't do it, rather that most don't have the desire or fortitude to get involved in it.
On top of that, most women for either cultural or personal reasons would not feel comfortable having a man on top of them or being on top of a man, even under the premise of learning self-defense.
That being said, any woman who would participate and stay in such a class would have to go above and beyond her comfort zone to overcome those cultural or personal boundaries.
PS - I've got female friends who are bad ass free-style wrestlers and BJJ practitioners who get mad respect from most guys. So bring on the neg. reppers...lol
