Silva was training alot in Brazilian Ninjutsu before his fight with the Gracie killer Sakuraba who does traditional Ninjutsu. While this in no way proves that the Brazilian style is better than the original I think its worth pointing out that Allan Goes (BJJ) who outweighted Sakuraba and fought him when he was but a wee ninja was dominated and lucked out on getting a draw due to the absence of judges. Royler Gracie (BJJ) who is known as the best pound for pound bjj man was completely thrashed and saved by the refferee vs. his superior ninja opponent in Sakuraba. The list goes on of Sakuraba defeating the best BJJ men in Royce, Renzo, and Ryan. You are all probably familiar with this phrase "only a ninja, can kill a ninja". I think this perfectly explains Sakurabas recent defeat. Brazilian Ninjutsu is an offshoot of traditional ninjutsu using some BJJ that obviously Silva didn't need and Capoeira which helped tremendously in his well placed kicks. This is not a defeat for Ninjutsu but just an example of its brutal effectiveness in all its forms. If Silva had been doing the traditional style Sakuraba may have been dead right now, thank God he was just doing a watered down version. Isn't it interesting that the 2 top middleweights utilize Ninjutsu and the top heavyweight in Fujita also trains with Ninjas and is on his way to becoming one.
