I drop people for pushups when they are late, I once had a parent say something to the effect of "it's not their fault they shouldn't have to do them."
So I told the parent someone was going to do pushups, either the kids or the parent but it didn't matter to me which one did them.
Of course I was the school owner so I didn't have to worry about catching flack from my superiors. I also made a disrespectful student train in the parking lot, rather than in the building. I let him know, that training in the building was a privilege not a right. I let him back aftr he learned to show the proper respect.
One thing though, never let them see you agitated or upset. Then they win.
