I have used it a few times. Both times it was over something stupid and both times I was able to end the situation quickly.
I stuck to low roundhouses, mid level straight thrust kicks, palm strikes and, believe it or not, double outer forearm blocks. If you hold them a bit higher and closer in than normal, they are great for blocking successive roundhouse punches while keeping your hands in a good position to counter with a straight shot down the pipe. Kinda like the peek-a-boo guard in boxing.
