Yeah it does make sence, but also due to some of the ways of today a lot of things are discarded and forgot even though they may be important. The latest "proven" methods of today are usually just going to the gym and then going to your martial arts class, at least thats what I see everyone out there around me doing. If you dont think the old ways of training are effective or hardcore just look at burmese boxing and burmese boxers, they use the simple hardcore ways of training not commonly seen and they are definately good strong fighters.
