Muaythai does have clinching and throws. But not on the ground fight. This muay chaiya fight came about because kru Praeng clan rave about
on the ground tactics that they have, while kru Lek's students claimed that they could win without "on the ground technique".

The fighter from kru Praeng said that the fight was stopped when his opponent was badly cut and his nose was bleeding all over.
BTW I don't see any move that could be called muay chaiya in this fight except for a brief foot work right at the begining, by kru Praeng's instructor. My son (who has zero training in martial art) took a brief glance at my request, and commented that it looked like two untrained teenagers brawling, and it's exactly how I feel. I think that both kru Praeng and kru lek lack experience and understanding of real fight, and the result shows. Muay chaiya has history, so it obviously has merits. However, I feel that it must be frequently tested if it is to be efficient and up to date. Currently, kru Praeng is using this fight to promote his school extensively.
