I trained a year in the Genbukan.

Personally I think there are very good aspect to Ninpo. However, one of the most basic ways they teach you how to punch is pretty obsolete today. I mean... how many boxers do you see holding their guards up like John L. Sullivan or even Jack Johnson?

Thai boxing however is a gladiator culture like western boxing or MMA so conditioning is very important. Ninjitsu of course, requires some conditioning, but nothing on par with the daily regiment of Thai boxers, but Ninpo is not a sporting culture. I suppose depending on what goals one is looking for, that may or may not be a good thing.

If you enter Ninpo though, you'll learn some pretty neat things.
