Honestly, and I am not trying to be a smart-ass here, you can forget the police dept. You won't pass the background check or the polygraph based on your drug use. I agree, it is not a big deal, but police dept. interviewers feel differently.
However, the military is an option. But there is an age limit, and believe me, when you are 35 and older, basic training will be hard. If you are 24, you are at the perfect age
right now.
As to how much fun, well.....think of joining the biggest, baddest gang there is, and getting paid for it! Think about handling cool weapons, and doing a job that actually means something (as opposed to just making some other cat richer due to your hard work).
I thought basic training was hard, but fun! Time passed quickly. Before I knew it, I had graduated. I look back at that time as some of the most interesting time of my life. I made lots of good friends, and had a lot of fun playing chess and drinking beer in the barracks. Drugs were out of the question, of course, but I found other ways to have fun!
Besides the Army, navy and Marines there are also good times to be had in the coast guard and the air force.
