Overall I think it's a good show.

They split up and one will train the "traditional" way, while the other will train in a modern urban environment(ie a regular gym).
This is nice, b/c I think it lets people see both the old school roots of a martial arts, as well as showing how it's accessible to modern everyday people.

Of course, what they learn is dependent on their instructors. Both of them seem to have really good attitudes about what they do, so it's basically a matter of what the instructor has them do.

The kali one was GREAT. One was training Pekiti Tirsia with Guro Leo Gaje in the jungles of the Phillipines. I've never seen the traditional/cultural side of kali so that was really interesting for me.

I'm interested in the next episode. I've always been curious to learn about savate so they've got me intrigued already.
