Mickster brings up a good point. My oldest bro is a cop an he's got some stories where guys have taken some major damage in altercations with the police and continued to fight.

Some guys are simply animals, but the guys I train with are far more skilled and tougher than your average thug on the street. I have no doubt about that! So, you can almost bet the house that most guys can't take a solid joint lock and continue to fight with a broken bone.

I will say this. I'm more afraid of the fact that I may not get position to work a submission than a sub not working once you lock it! That's the real problem when you're fighting some tough ass bastard that's strong and can punch! Hell, you can get knocked out before you even get a chance to use your grappling skills. That's my real fear!
