Visualization working definition
Sure thing.
When I ask about visualization as a training tool I have a specific type in mind.
1. I assume that you have a working knowledge of how to do the technique and enough experience to know what it feels like to do it right.
2. To practice you replay the correct move in your mind being as realistic and complete as possible. It includes not only seeing the technique correctly performed, but being so detailed that you can feel it as well.
This is somewhat different from mental scenario training which you can use to keep yourself alert and try to establish patterns of response. Scenarios are basically a bunch of "What if"s. "What if there is an evil doer intent on my wallet waiting around that corner with a baseball bat?" And then decide on a course of action.
