Big Thank You
Thanks to everyone that came to the HCK Take Down Workshop yesterday, April 20th. It was well attended with people coming from as faraway as Arizona, Colorado, Bakersfield, Ventura and Northern California.
Special thanks to the regulars who post here, and to the people who train at well known local BJJ schools for attending. Your support is sincerely appreciated.
Rico taught some basic principles of underhook/overhook tie up positioning; several tie ups involving the clinch, where you can take your opponent's back while standing;clinch take down into the MOUNT, and clinch take down into SIDE MOUNT.
Frank taught underhook setups to various single leg take downs, including one where you end up in BACK MOUNT.
Vlady taught variations of 2 on 1 arm drags where you can take your opponent down and break his shoulder at the same time; arm drag to single leg and to double leg take down.
Fernando taught arm drags off of head snap lock ups to a very tight single leg take down, and a inside leg entanglement take down.
We are working on the next seminar and possible topics may include setups and take downs involving the gi, various take down defenses, and stopping that deadly BJJ technique of "flopping to the guard". Future workshops will work on submissions that many BJJ players rarely see.
