As you know, if someone skilled is on your back it can be very tough. Did you try going to turtle (quarter position) then clearing hooks? How about if he is on his back, bridging high so your head is next to his, then clearing?
The sitting on the leg and spinning works very well, as you know, but try adding one thing. This is the one I usually try for.
He is on his back, on your back. Use both hands on one of his arms to keep him from choking you. If he is putting his right arm around your neck, grab his left arm with both hands, turning your chin toward his right arm to minimize the space for the choke. "Play" with his left, pushing down, out, etc, until you feel the resistance is right to take his left arm and put it next to your right ear. Now turn to your right and you are back in his guard. Since you have his arm tight, he can't follow to your back. Enjoy!
