The carbs from pasta get changed into body fat more quickly than fat, actually. Try a low carb, high protein and moderate fat diet. Eating some pasta is fine just not in large amounts, just try to emphasize lean meats and try not to worry too much about fat intake. At least it works for me. If it does not work for you, try asking a competitive bodybuilder. Pro or amatuer.

Energy from carbs is short term. Protein energy lasts longer. After you workout, your body needs carbs to replenish glycogen in the muscles. Glycogen is the muscles' energy source which gets used up during exercise. There is about a 1/2 hour to 45 minute period after exercise when your body will absorb carbs quickly to replenish the glycogen.
