Agree that fighting is mostly mental. That's one of the reasons that I feel changing it from womens self-defense to counter-offensive or by giving it any title besides learning to fight, is making the waters murky on what you need to be doing. If your goal is to learn to defend yourself, then you need to learn to fight. No name, or set of technques will help you achieve that goal if you don't develop good fighting skills. I just don't like to it call it anything else besides what it is,Fighting. The only exceptions I make is to emphasize the need for a well develop delivery system and good techinque. That if you're a small person then you can never rely on strength or power. That is you're going to fight, that you're almost always going to be fighting at a disadvantage. So you need to train with that in mind.
