Practicing breathing exercises is good and all, but lets accept it for what it is. Meditating induces favorable brain chemistry, which induces favorable physiological chemistry. The movements are probably good for muscle tone as well (ala Pilates and Yoga)--slow resistance.

Of course it will never be proven that you can stop someone without touching them using your qi. If you're, oh, 6'5" and 280 lbs of solid muscle, that might stop most people before they want to mess with you. Then again, that's sheer physics in your face--that much mass will kick your ass.

It should stand to reason that something that cannot be measured does not actually exist. So its not part of the electromagnetic spectrum. It is neither particle, nor wave. It isn't dark matter. Its probably not operating in a higher dimension since those supposedly disappeared early on in the formation of the universe. I doubt qi is temporarily displaced from the actual body in inhabits (such that it could never be measure because it exists in a different time...). If it exerts a force on other objects in this universe than it can be measured. Since it can't be measured, it does not exert force on any objects in the universe, and hence, does not exist.

Yeah, we can get all Taoist about it...the force that can be measured is not the true force. I'm sure Lao Tzu said something like that. He probably meant imagination is the true force (e.g. it makes everything else possible). But, there is no qi, chi, ki, Jedi force, the dark side, or psychic powers. But keep meditating and release those endorphins (or you could train harder and get the same effect).
