I hear a lot of people tell me that aikido is a spiritual art, but when seagal does aikido it seems to throw me off a bit knowing the the moves he uses can seriously do some damage (im referring to the ones in his movies, but I get the feeling whatever he does in his movies, he can surely do in real life, thats my opinion anyways)...in your opinion, do you think seagal and his aikido skills give aikido a bad name being that aikido is supposed to be a spiritual art for most? could they work in a street fight against like 3 or 4 attackers? I dont know who has seen that almost 3 minute video footage of seagal when he was younger, but he was throwing his students around like it was no big deal...I was really amazed at what I seen in the video...seems like seagal has his own brand of aikido and he has the type of mentality that can make aikido really effective...
