Default I have had Type 1

Diabetes for over 30 years now.

Control of sugar levels is important, however the effect of rising blood sugar levels during sparring is generally a good thing.

The raised level is only for a short duration and the consequences of raised sugar levels are only severe when levels have been high for some period.
I have focussed more on avoiding hypo glycemia during prolonged, strenuous activity, mainly as this can kill you very quickly if not controlled, and also training with no energy is a miserable thing too. Remember that your sugar levels may rise for a short period, but after stopping the excercise it can plummet very rapidly.

If you wish to discuss further, I'm more than happy to oblige

regards
