you train from the guard cuz its the most likely bad position your going to get into.....ie: some drunk at a bar tackles you.
the idea of training martial arts is to best prepare your body (by training your neurons to react quickly) in a bad situation. if u train long enough you can tell the difference between an aggressive stance and a non-aggressive stance....and if u train long enough that same guy at the bar who throws a haymaker punch looks like he is in slow motion.
