If he had been around in the 80's and fighting against other middleweights such as Hagler, Hearns, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Duran? Joppy's a good fighter but not in that league, and there's not realy much middle weight competition for Hopkins. Personally i feel Hearns, Hagler, and Leonard, would have been to much form him. He would have given Duran a fight, but I couldn't pick a winner.

I like Hopkins. He continues to defy the odds at 39 years of age. He has good skills and a tremendous work ethic. I feel that a match-up between Hopkins and Hagler would have went to Marvelous Marvin. Hearns or Leonard would have been good fights too, and could probably be argued either way...surely fights I would like to see though. As far as Duran goes, tough one to call, though I think Hopkins would have Roberto asking for "No Mas" before it went the distance.
Interesting question...thanks for the brain food. |
