Default Broken Speedbag

I broke my speedbag!! I'm just wondering what I did wrong and can it be fixed. The part that goes around the hook tore. Basically the stitching came out... Another question, how many times should I be letting it rebound or bounce back? I was thinkin maybe the reason i couldnt get it goin real fast is cuz im lettin it rebound too much or maybe im just too weak or somethin. Help?

I've been through about 4 of them in the last ten years. Some, the bag itself wore out and some the mount broke. It just plain wore out. Practice, the more you practice the better you will become. Also, it's easier to go faster once you are good and warmed up.

speedbag is an unknown quantity at this point
Thumbs up Speed bag information

For a broken strap as you describe, you have a few choices. Take it to a shop where they can stitch or sew leather and see if they can salvage it. But the best way is to just buy another bag. You can get a pretty decent bag fairly cheap.

as to your question about how to hit it, Basically you will use an ODD number of rebounds to hit it continuously from the SAME side. ( 3 rebounds is normal, but you can use 5 rebounds if you need to..)
Don't worry about going "fast". the speed bag is best learned as a "control" bag. speed will come with control.

here are a few online sites with training information:

speedbagcentral.com for SB training information

and here: Speed bag basics for the beginner.

Good luck in your training.

Speed Bag is right. just by another one, it would be easier. why go to the trouble of trying to fix it.
