Default Sparring Match

I got my first sparring match soon. The guy im fighting is taller than me and has a very long reach. Butwhen he punches he doesnt have the other hand blockin. Do any of u guys have any tips for fightin someone like this? Thanks

Punjabi,

If the other hand isn't up, he's pretty much opening the door to let you in...lol. Let's assume he's a right hander (left-lead)

If he has a crisp jab, but keeps his other hand down or not completely covering up, catch that jab with your right glove and simultaneously fire double jabs at his chin.

or

slip inside the jab and simultaneously fire off a left hook around ear level. You're practically hitting him the same time he is hitting you. If he keeps his hand down, you're gonna land and make him learn to cover up.

If he has a sloppy jab that paws rather than snaps, follow that jab in with right cross or an overhand, then work the body.

----------------------------------------------------------

If he likes to use jab-cross and work combinations off of those two, wait till he's just about finished with that cross (assuming you've covered it) and come in with a left hook, right uppercut.

or

slip outside that cross and launch a hook to his body, then a quick hook upstairs.


These are just a few ideas. Hope it helps.
