The Ultimate in Martial Arts

I want to learn a little about striking arts. I am joining a BJJ/MT place and I want to not just hit a bag, but hit it with propper form and help myself to understand striking effectively. Are there any tips you can give me? Any combinations I should be using? Any pointers on footwork or anything?
