Default cornered

i can do all right when defending a certain amount of combinations, but around the 5th or 6th punch, it becomes too much and i shell up like a turtle while stumbling backwards (crossing my feet). is there anything i can do to keep this from happening? i usually try to move around, but once in a while i get walked into the corner of the ring and cannot get off the ropes. is there a technique for getting off the ropes? if so...what is it, and how does one do it? any help would be much appreciated.

Few things without getting specific:

1. Footwork, get off that tightrope! Learn to use lateral movment. Your feet are your best friends in defense.

2. Best defense is a good offense; and vice versa. If your opponent is unloading on you he's is open for a counter.

3. Remember everyone gets hit sometimes. It''s all a matter of getting over that hump;.

That's enough of my unintelligible rambling, look for Mike Brewer to give you really good advise on this.

Good info from medic, also you can spin the guy around and put him into the corner. with your lead foot step to the to the out sid a little and use a hook/shove and spin him around while steping out. Hard to describe in text but hope you get the jest.

i kind of understand what you're saying. so i step to my outside?..then throw a pushing hook?..but do i pull his shoulder spinning him the opposite way around from me or spin him with me while i turn so that we basically switch positions?

if your getting punched and you wind up in the corner or against the ropes and he is close to you....clinch him and take a step foward and turn him into the ropes....if worse comes to worse and you cant turn him at least youll be a step away from the ropes.
