As we know, Bruce Lee has a base of Wing Chun, which involves a whole lot of "toe to toe" striking. In his "Tao of JKD" book, he basically goes over NOTHING but boxing. He read a bunch about boxing and was always interested in it because it was based in PRACTICALLITY not TRADITION. His JKD system obviously involves kicks/knees/elbows/throws/grappling, but in his book he basically only looks at western boxing. I can tell from what he has written that he has read some of the same boxing books i have, because he uses quotes from them. He doesn't even really reference different asian hand forms OR different "asian"-style blocks (inside lever, cross body), its all about jabs, crosses, hooks, and uppercuts, as well as slipping, parrying, and ducking, its FREAKING BOXING 100%. Am I the only one who thinks that the Tao is basically just a boxing book?
