![]() | Well, Those aren't exactly "styles" of boxing as you'd call them. To the chinese, the word for boxing means "to punch" or " to fight". Thats why you have mantis boxing etc etc but they still use legs. I wouldn't call kickboxing boxing just because the word boxing is there. Like calling Mcdonalds, Food. In the Realm of boxing there are a few "different" styles although they are slight variations of the Orthadox stance. Unlike TMAs where a different style is a totally different jump from each "style". In boxing, theres a "peek-a-boo" stance, A crouched stance, X-guard stance and a few others i forgot. But they aren't so much styles as they are different tatics/methods. |

![]() | i completely agree with shard on boxing's "peek-a-boo, crouched, x-gaurd, and a few others not being so much as styles but as in tactics, i believe to be an all around good boxer one needs to know all these tactics, to successfully compete against any different tactic your opponent maybe using, as far as warrior189, i dont understand the question really, maybe you are interested in boxing as in ring combat? or competitive Martial arts? |

Western boxing does have different "styles" but like people are sayin it is simply a deviation in stance and tactics. For example, many mexican boxers are very sneaky and illusive, that could be considered thier "style." |
