Default Boxing Workout

I was wondering if someone could recommend a 1 hr boxing workout to a beginner level such as myself. I have had some training but I can't join a gym at this point. So I'd like some advice on some training programs. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. Can you give me an example of a typical bag workout regimen? How many minute rounds should I start out with? I hate to be such a pain but I'm used to the coach barkin' the orders...lastly, is their a website that you know of that might have different workouts I could try out? Thanks again.

It depends on if you're an amateur or not for how many minutes you go on. If you're an amateur, then you should go for two-minute rounds. I used to think one should always go for three minutes, because it would overall increase your endurance, but I was wrong. I've read many times that you should go for two minutes because that way you can go 100% for the regular duration of an amateur round. Many times you'll find that if people try to do three minute rounds, then they work only at 80% and start off slow to make up for stamina later in the round. You might ask why people just don't try to go 100% for the three-minute rounds. That I don't know. Give it a shot. Try them both out, and see what works best for you.

Go to ringside.com and ask them for a free boxing manual. It will provide you with most of the things you're asking about in this thread and elaborate on what I have posted.

I you got someone who you can spar with, definately spar. Sparring is the most important part of any boxing training. Obviously incorporate running/sprinting, shadow-bixing, jump rope, bag work if you got one, situps/pushups/pullups/bunnyhops, stretching..into the routine. Work for 3 min rounds with small rests or pushups inbetween rounds for each exercise. Or 2 min rounds if 3 minutes is too hard.. have fun

1-2 mile light jog at whatever pace you choose. Afterwards 30 sprints at 70-80% of your top speed(at whatever distance is comfortable).

Hit the gym right after starting up with 3 rounds(a round is the minutes with 1 rest minute) of shadow boxing.

Next hit the rope and bang out another 3 rounds.

Toss on the gloves and start hitting the heavy bag for 3.

Last, hit the speed bag for 3.

That's your workout... now if you're training to fight you might want to work the focus mitts, sparring, and other things directly afterwards... but that's the workout.
